Anniversary-Plan B

Happy Anniversary to Tyson yesterday (and happy birthday Kirsten)!

We had a fun time yesterday, it wasn't what we were planning, but what ever is? We had planned to go to a bigger town about an hour away, do some shopping and eat dinner at a nice restaurant. However, we have been way too spoiled with having Kenni and Cassie be here. We never really have to worry about finding a babysitter. Well, they both are out of town so I thought, well, now that I am in young women's, it will be really easy to find one of them to watch the boys...Nope, not one. They were all out of town or busy. Everyone else we know or could think of have their own kids and we didn't want to take them away from their own families. (sorry Bunk, we do that to you all the time.)

So we had plan B. Tyson was awesome and left work much earlier than usual. We took the boys and went to a local Italian place, got some take out, came home, put the boys in bed. Which turned out to be much easier than usual because they had taken like the shortest naps ever which made me mad at the time, but turned out to be a blessing because they were so tired. So they fell asleep and we went down to the basement where Tyson had laid out a blanket on the floor and lit some candles (which is really different for us, we never light candles). So we ate our take out on the floor and talked about our past anniversaries. It was really fun.

I love how much Tyson loves me and always makes me feel special, no matter what day it is or where we are. Sometimes it is hard being a mom and having to worry about the kids even on days when I want to celebrate and be alone with Tyson. But I am so thankful I get to be a mom and I know this may sound weird, but I know Heavenly Father knew that I needed to spend some quality time with Tyson, so He had the boys sleep extra deep. I am so thankful for days that remind me of why I love life and how lucky I am. Tyson, thank you for marrying me four years ago. Thank you for making every day wonderful and for keeping your promise and making me laugh so much. Thank you for writing notes on all our windows so every time I look outside, I remember you love me. Guess what? I love you.

My Man of Common Cents

In honor of my fabulous husband and his upcoming birthday, I wanted to write a little blog about him and the things he loves. I was talking to his little sister, Cassie, today and I was asking her about what kind of guy she wants to marry. She is much more mature in her thoughts than I ever was, which made me start to remember what I used to want. I wanted basically somebody just like me, but from Tennessee with an accent that could ride horses. I'm so glad I got someone infinitely better than that.

Tyson is very different from me. He is confident, driven, realistic, yet hopeful, he is like a rock, so stable. He loves things that I can't even picture liking, like olives and museums. I love to read his blog: www.commoncentscustomerservice.blogspot.com because customer service? I would have never really given that any thought except, "that teller was really helpful." But I would have marked it as personality, not actually as a good way of doing business. He is just amazing the things he thinks of and how he always wants to make things better.

I have been kind of grouchy with him today, and he has been so good and nice to me. He is off with the little boys at Walmart right now getting me a present. That is the kind of guy he is. He is amazing and I love him. I want him to know it, so everyone reading this, click on his blog and look at it. He can see how many people look at it, and that will make him so happy. Thanks. :)

Some Thoughts on My Other Half

Ok, so now that my doctors appointments are every week and the drive there is almost an hour, I have had a lot of time to just think lately. I guess I am kind of grateful we don't have very good radio stations around here, otherwise I would have been blasting the tunes (it is the only time I have without Josh in the car, so I kind go crazy) rather than thinking.

I was thinking about how all my posts are about my two little boys, rather than the main boy/man of my life. So I wanted to blog a little about my Hunny Bunches, mostly because I am just so thankful for him. This is what he does everyday: he snuggles with me every morning far longer than he probably should after his alarm goes off (the first time) because he knows I hate being in bed without him. Then he gets Josh out of his room, gets all of us breakfast (usually cereal, but that is what we love), and then after that he gets himself ready for the day. We works all day, usually long days, and then when he gets home he often makes dinner while I stand there pretending to help as I tell him all about my day chasing Josh. Then he attacks Josh and they play, yelling, screaming and tackling each other until Josh starts fussing because he is so worn out. Then he helps me put Josh to bed, then we spend the evening together doing whatever I want.

At work he has just recently become a boss. He is in charge of an office of three people. They are all really good friends and so since this is a new shift, I was afraid it would be hard for him. But he is very kind to them, I think they understand that he is in charge, but that they can also give their opinion and he will listen. He is in charge and leads their staff meetings, which has been really neat to watch. I have never been there for one, but he prepares agendas for them, and has goals. It is just weird to see him be a real leader. He has wanted that from the first day I met him, probably from the day he was born, to be a leader, to be a boss. But I have never seen him in charge of anyone, besides me and Josh, but he makes me feel like I'm in charge, so I never have seen this side of him. I feel like a mom, I am just so proud of him.

Tyson has never been a guy that needs or usually even wants a guys night out. He doesn't go do "guy stuff" like playing basketball or going to the gym. Not that he can't or isn't good at it, he is pretty athletic and creams me by far. He just doesn't care about that stuff. He loves being at home with boring old me. I don't really know why, and I just can't figure out how I got so lucky. I remember my high school buddies and I used to dream up our perfect man and one time I sent a letter in the wind from the roof of my house that described the guy I wanted to marry. I know, totally weird, but I was quite the romantic weirdo. And from the first date I went on with Tyson, I was hooked, he fit everything I wanted and more. It wasn't just physically, it was this bizarre emotional connection that I had never felt with anyone else before. It was like being with another part of myself, I didn't have to think about what to say or how to act, it just happened, and he always makes me want to be better at the same time. I know this is all just a lot of rambling, but it just makes me so happy, he makes me so happy. He promised me he would make me laugh every day, and he has kept that promise. It is so hard to be sad or mad around him. And for my emotional pyscho-ness, that is pretty impressive.

We were just sitting there talking last night and he looked at me and told me I looked old. He didn't mean it in a rude way, he was just saying it was weird that we are getting old. We were still very much kids when we got married, and we kind of still are. But life, responsibility, those things age you (my gray hair can attest to that). It is really neat to watch Josh take his first step, to start talking now, to grow up. But it is also really neat to watch Tyson grow up too. He is a leader at work and at home, but he serves at both those places too, which I can see humbles him. I don't know how to explain it, but he is changing and it is neat to see.

Sorry, I have never been one to be concise, especially when it comes to a subject I love. Besides the Lord, I can't think of anything I love more than my Hunny Bunches. So thank you Tyson, for being my best friend, for putting up with my cranky days/weeks/past 9 months. Thank you for making so many meals and spending so much money on milk so I can have cereal twice a day (at least). Thank you for being such a good dad for Josh. Thank you for paying hard earned money for me to take a writing class so I can live my dreams. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for praying for me. Thank you for giving me something I love to write about. Thank you for being my muse, my love, my everything. I love you.

My Valentine

So Valentine's Day was kind of crazy, but really fun. Tyson and I went up to the temple while Chris and Kenni were so nice to watch our little munchkin. Since the drive is 3 hours up to the temple and 3 hours back, Tyson and I always get a lot of conversation in and I love getting to know him better. I think it is so funny that there is so much I still don't know about him. We usually end up talking about memories with our families, or our past significant others, or talking about our future together. We always dream we will live in this huge gorgeous mansion on a big farm out in the country somewhere. Tyson pictures the mansion a lot bigger than I picture it, I'm pretty sure. Especially since the first thing I think of is cleaning it. :) But Tyson is always so sure that we will be filthy rich someday. I still have mixed feelings about whether I want to be or not, but I know that if Tyson wants it, he does whatever he needs to do to get it. Like me for example. Let's talk about that story, it is my favorite.

We met on January 6, 2006. My friend, Ryan, told me and a few of my friends that he had just gotten a new roommate and we could come over and meet him if we wanted to. We went over to check him out, not for ourselves, but we wanted to see if he would go well with one of our other friends. So I met Tyson and turns out he already had two girlfriends, one in Utah and one here. But he was nice and funny and I found out he was from the same place that KJ, my brother, served his mission. But I didn't think much about him. I had a missionary, and my mission papers were all filled out, I was just waiting for April 2 so I could submit them. Well, at the end of the month, my friends and I wanted to go do baptisms at the temple, but we needed more Priesthood holders to come with us. So we invited Tyson and his girlfriend. Well, she couldn't come, but Tyson did. We drove a few hours Friday night and stopped at our friend, Luke's parents house for the night. The whole time Tyson and I pretended we were married (I'm not sure why, I often liked to play that game with guys, I would just call them husband, so really it wasn't a big deal, I don't know why I was that way). So we had a great time at the temple the next day and Tyson and I held hands for a few seconds because everyone told us to for this picture they were taking. It was really funny and just a joke, but I found myself always looking to see where Tyson was and what he was doing and who he was talking to. I just couldn't help myself. The whole drive home we sat in the back seat and just talked the whole way. He told me about the "dear John" he got on his mission and I told him about my missionary and how I felt about him and how I was going to go on a mission. He asked me why I wanted to go and I didn't know. I really wanted to serve the Lord, but I think the real reason I was going was because I wanted to prove I could, and because I thought that is what my missionary wanted me to do.
That following Monday, Tyson dumped his girlfriends and asked me out that Thursday for the next day. So we went on a date every night after that. Until Valentine's Day when Tyson went way out of his way. He decorated my room in hearts, wrote me poems that he put in my books for each class that day, and then that night took me on a walk/picnic. It was perfect. And we were wrapped up in a blanket (it was freezing!) sitting on the bleachers and he asked me if he could kiss me, but instead of responding I just kissed him. The rest of the night I swung from being totally giddy happy and feeling guilty that I had betrayed my missionary, again. But Tyson told me that he would steal me away from all my other plans, and I didn't believe him.
A week later he told me he loved me and I knew that I loved him too. It was so weird that it happened so fast. He made me feel happier, prettier, better than I had ever felt in my whole life. He still does. A few weeks later, on March 15, I realized I not only could, but I wanted to marry Tyson. So I called him and told him that, then I hung up the phone. Later that night, Tyson proposed to me, and I said yes and that I wanted a secret engagement. Which lasted for like 5 minutes since I can't keep secrets worth beans.
Every Valentine's after that had been really special for us, mostly because of our memories and that our first Valentine's was the day I really made a choice that I didn't want to just date this guy, and he really went way out of his way to show me he liked me and that I was worth all the trouble. So this Saturday, he snuck away while I was babysitting and got me flowers (mostly because he didn't want me to be sad, but they are really pretty) and he wrote me a poem which is my favorite.

"To My Valentine. :)

My heart, my life, my friend, my wife.
My woman, my love, my gift from above.

To you, for you, I write these short lines.
From our first February I have written poetry in your Valentine's.

My words are awkward, my love is great.
With you I would love to ice skate.

Your forever I will always be,
with cookies, flowers, and frisbees.

I love you!!

Tyson :) "

Isn't that just hilarious and precious? I don't know why I am writing all of this, I highly doubt anyone will really read it. But it just makes me so happy that I have someone that is still so in love with me. The Lord has blessed me so much! And now not only do I have him, but a little minature Tyson and maybe a minature me in lets see...7 months and 2 weeks. :)

Okay...so stuff did happen

Okay, so I didn't realize so much did happen over the past couple of weeks. I just downloaded the pics from our camera and I kept saying "Oh, oh, yeah, I forgot about that." Hehe So this is a sweet puzzle that Tyson got for me for Christmas and it took us two weeks to build. Our table was completely covered that whole time so everytime we wanted to eat, we had to eat atop our puzzle. It was really fun though, intense, but fun. It is a scene from Italy, so it was like we were there for two weeks. :)

We also went out of town for a few days. Tyson had this computer Access training for a couple of days and Josh and I got to go with him. It was really fun because we got to see a few friends we haven't seen in awhile and it was just a blast getting away together for a few days.

This one is hilarious. Our friend's Emilie and Logan and their little boy Tommy came over. Well, it turns out Josh and Tommy have the same p.j.'s Hilarious huh? They are both so cute!

Josh making one of his fabulous faces.

Can you see his slippers? They are elephants and soooo cute!

Josh's first hair cut. I gave it to him. He doesn't have much hair except in the back and it was all curly, but it was getting a little unruley, so I had to chop it off. He didn't like it one bit, but I think it looks better now.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! (a day late)
I love this day, I just love holidays. So Tyson and I switch up who is in charge of Valentine's Day and our anniversary. So this year, I was in charge of V-day. So I hid cards all over the house, and I took him on a date to where we had our first kiss two years ago on v-day. It was freezing, so our date lasted like 5 min, but it was still way fun. He gave me a dozen yellow roses and tons of chocolate, I was so excited because I didn't even expect anything. I have to say having a husband is such a blast. He is so much fun and he loves to suprise me, which is so fun because I love suprises. But anyways, I keep going off, I wanted to say that I got a hair cut yesterday and I totally have bangs now. It is kind of weird and I feel like a shaggy dog, but I think it looks way cute. I will post a picture as soon as we find the cord to the camera...
I love you all!!!

Bad Dream makes me realize a Good Life

So last night I had a dream, or nightmare I guess
I should say, about what would have happened if I had decided not to marry Tyson. I was standing on the steps to a huge building in a gorgeous wedding dress but I wasn't marrying Tyson, I can only assume that it was Mike I was going to marry. And it was like my baby, all our memories never happened. And there I was standing there at the pinacle moment of my life, and I had chosen a different path. I felt lost and empty without my honey bunches (that's what I call Tys). I knew that I couldn't marry anyone else, that my heart was and always would be with Tyson. I woke up to the early morning light seeping through the blinds, the murmur of rain on the windows and the roof, and my little baby Joshua breathing in my ear. I sat up and looked over and there was my wonderful husband who is so good to me and I have never been so happy and relieved to know that a dream was just a dream. Tyson is crazy and so funny and so perfect for me. I was always a sucker for love stories, and it is cheesy, but just the thought of not having the husband I do, I know everything would be different, I would be a totally different person, and I would have been so hallow without him. I am so thankful that the Lord let me choose what I wanted most and He helped me figure out what was best for me.
